5 NEW Chalk Brands Reviewed

5 NEW Chalk Brands Reviewed

I had a few people ask for my thoughts on the 5 new gym chalk brands I bought for my first $1 Challenge. Thanks again to everyone who contributed! 💕

I've put together a quick review for y'all + an edit of all 5 crushes! Hope ya'll enjoy!

So, here's my thoughts...

1. Jenny's Choice was by far my favorite. It was super soft, but much crispier than BSN or other powdery soft chalk. It actually reminded me a lot of MagKing's slightly chunky texture, but way softer. I wouldn't call it gritty, but the way the chalk breaks into tiny pieces is very distinct and similar to MagKing. It's a texture I absolutely love, but sometimes MagKing is a bit too firm for my liking. Jenny's Choice is a great soft, but crispy chalk that gives you a nice combination between the textures of BSN and MagKing.

2. My second favorite of these 5 chalks was definitely Beasty. I LOVED the flaky inside and have never had that texture before on a soft chalk. Typically the flaky layered chalks are firm or extra firm. So it's softness was a nice surprise. It very much gave me OG BSN vibes. If you're an OG chalk watcher, you might remember that gritty, flaky texture that the original BSN had back in the day. This is similar. That texture used to be so good in a water crush, so I'm really looking forward to trying Beasty and the other chalk brands in water to see which ones will get the biggest sizzles.

3. Next up is Mammal Strength. This chalk is pretty firm. Probably more firm than I would prefer for an everyday chalk, but it's super crisp and the sound is amazing. I'd probably use this one for chalk cubes and thins. Or full block crushes. It has some really amazing crackling sounds when you crush it and it's not so firm that it becomes a struggle crush.

4. Then there's Oncrux chalk. This chalk is firm, but it's also super powdery. Much like the OG Prosource or Again/Faster chalks. It has the texture of flour or powdered milk. This one wasn't my favorite as a plain crush because there just wasn't enough sound for me and it's a little firm. BUT...I do think this chalk would be amazing dyed and could even get a flaky outside with the right dye. Plus, the powdery texture would be amazing for reforming. I've dyed and reformed with this texture before and I love how well it takes dye and how vibrant and fluffy it becomes.

5. Lastly, there's Warm Body Cold Mind. This is an extra firm, crunchy chalk. It's not for the people with weak hands or the soft chalk lovers lol. Definitely a struggle crush for anyone that's not used to extra firm chalk. It has a slight flakiness inside and lots of crunch. Again, this one would probably be great for chalk cubes or twist crushes so you can break it up into pieces and crush the shards. Omg. 👏

So I hope that answers any questions ya'll might have. I dyed every texture for an upcoming dyed chalk comparison video too. That will be out soon.

Questions for you... have you every tried any of these chalk brands? What did you think? Honest answers only.
